Camping Tents. Published at Wednesday, August 02nd 2017, 12:11:05 PM by RickGrimes.
The social campers over at M2C Innovation are back doing what they do: building modular tents that link up into full-blown campsite communities. The last time we checked in, they were focused on domes, but now they have moved on to Qubes. The new Qube tents are quick-setup blocks that offer enough height to stand up inside.Like Pods, these modular tents connect together with tunnels and create larger tent communities. They are also more affordable than M2Cs original tents and are proving quite popular on crowdfunding.
It is easy to set up. Once the 10 pegs and tarp are in place then the tent is raised by setting the center pole, after which the 10 lines to the tent pegs can be set. The tent panels are not rigid and will flap in the wind, but having 20 pegs supporting the tent tends to distribute wind load over many points. When I purchased the tent, I set it up in the yard prior to an epic downpour and heavy wind. The tent did moderately leak but not so much as to make it difficult to clean up with a sponge and bucket (both of which I find handy to camp with). Since then I have camped in the tent only once when it rained. Prior to that experience, I had sprayed a 10.5 oz. can of "Kiwi Camp Dry Performance Fabric Protector" on the exterior to waterproof the tent. The can covered eight tenths of the tent before running out.
In the rain while camping after this treatment, there was only a trivial amount of leakage concentrated beneath the door entries. Since there is not a tent fly (but only a single layer of fabric) it is best not to let items touch the fabric, which cab wick moisture to whatever it touches. For cooler weather camping, the tent completely closes except for the air vent at the peak. I give this tent a rating of 5, not because it is perfect for all users, but because for me it does such an exceptionally nice job with a highly original concept, and because I like it so much. Some may wish for a lighter tent (mine weighs 13 pounds). Others may prefer a slightly heavier weight more water-resistant fabric. As for myself, I feel that an annual application of the Camp Dry treatment will over the years bond me ever closer to this product. Frankly I am happy with it the way it is.
Qube offers a quick pitching time of less than 2 minutes ,out of the bag to fully pitched and ready to go meaning youll have that drink in your hand quicker than ever before. Unlike other quick pitching tents in fact like many other tents in the camping world you can stand up in all our variations from the 2 person right through to the 4 person so no more stooping over or doing the dying fish while you try and get your jeans on !
Size and weight of your tent are important factors. As well as being able to sleep in your tent, you may also need to allow space for eating and spending time inside when the weather turns against you. You will also need to allow space to store your gear, equipment and food. Many inexperienced campers make the mistake of going for the number of people that a tent can sleep when choosing their tent, but these guides do not allow for any extra space that you may need for moving about, storing stuff, etc., so always check the actual floor space carefully.
Enjoy your very own Tube carriage all to yourself and your friends with none of the chaos and stress that a journey on the London underground usually involves. This remarkable tent is an exact replica of a tube carriage on the Northern Line that sleeps up to 20 adults and can fit around 72 people standing. The tent is the ultimate party tent for festival goers and large groups of campers and includes different compartments, ranging from: a DJ booth, bar, chill out zones and bedrooms, all separated by fly sheet doors. Enter the tube tent via the side or the drivers doors and make your way through the tunnel shaped carriage for one of the most relaxed experiences you will ever have on a tube!
